Bakewell tart is one of those desserts which warms your heart. For me, it combines childhood memories, with deliciousness, and maybe some ice cream..!
I remember having Bakewell's when a large pot of tea was brewing, and the family were sitting around the table at home. Or Dad would sometimes nip down to the WI bake sale on a Thursday and grab one! They always tasted best from there. Freshly baked Bakewell tart, oozing with homemade jam and topped with toasted almond flakes.
And they are simply never as good when bought from the shop! The pastry isn't as buttery or crumbly when you make it yourself. I must admit though, I do love those Glacier Cherries.
Now, as the sun is shining, the sunglasses are on and the English Summer is beaming, I wouldn't mind having a slice with a glass of bubbles. What do you think?
