Espresso butter was something I discovered whilst living in Sydney this year, and it is definitely something I want to share with you.
I first had espresso butter at Deus in Camperdown - I was just popping in for coffee and thought I'd have a browse of the menu. It's impossible not to look at the menu isn't it!? And oh, there was toasted banana bread with espresso butter.
Wow. I think my eyes nearly popped out of their sockets!
...Let's just say that coffee turned into coffee and cake. Can you blame me?
So if you're making banana bread, and want to top it with a sugary caffeine kick this is the perfect combination for you.
A shot of espresso
1 x tbsp maple syrup
1 x knob butter at room temp
Add the knob of butter topped with a shot of espresso and maple syrup into a small dish. Serve with toasted banana bread.
